I made centerpieces for my Thanksgiving tables from pages out of a cookbook from the 60's and my Silhouette SD.

Baby Shoes and Appliqueing

I cut the pattern out for these shoes using my Silhouette SD and followed the directions from the Silhouette America blog.  I tell you what, making these shoes was far easier than appliquéing those circles on the onesies!

Tie Dye Onesie with Heat Transfer Vinyl

Every single time I use the Silhouette SD Heat Transfer Vinyl, I want to bash my head against the wall. There is not a major defect of any kind with the product itself, but I always rush through projects and that does not work well with this vinyl. The tie dying itself worked great considering I just did it the way I figured you did it and didn't really read any instructions on the process. I then designed my vinyl cutout in Photoshop (the recipient's name is Paisley) then loaded it into the Silhouette SD software. I was ready to hit the "cut" button and I always hesitate because I KNOW I'm forgetting something. The first thing I ask myself is, "Did I reverse the image?" because I have forgotten to do this at least 4 times! I know, you think I wold learn. Once I assured myself everything is fine, I sent it to the Silhouette SD and everything seemed perfect until.... UGGGGH... I put the vinyl in glossy side up. FAIL and a waste of $5. I gather myself, eat (which is important for me as a crafter) and give it another go. Everything seems fine once again until I start to peel away the negative parts of the vinyl for transfer and.... UGGGGGH... I pealed away the reverse parts. FAIL AGAIN and a waste of another $5. Seriously, I am moving on to just painting stencils from now on. SHEESH.

Etching Pyrex

This was definitely a learning experience for me, as are most of my craft experiences. The bottle on the Armour Etching Cream did say that it didn't work on "some Pyrex" but since I had already purchased the cream and the Pyrex I was going to give it a go. I cut out vinyl stencils using my Silhouette SD. The cream said to wait 5 minutes, which I did, then rinsed and I couldn't tell a difference. I left the vinyl in place then left it on for an hour with the same results. Finally, I left it on for several hours and after I rinsed it I still could not tell a difference so I took the vinyl off and as the glass dried it magically appeared. This was very frustrating for me because I missed the wedding shower that I was going to give these at because I chopped it up to a craft fail. There are a couple of goofs... I had some etching cream run where I didn't have vinyl folds pushed down hard enough and on the flowers I noticed that some etching cream got behind the vinyl when what I believe was the washing off process because it is lighter.
